AMMAN - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Founder and Chairman of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA), discussed with  Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Saghir, advisor to the Minister of Education in Libya, various means of cooperation, particularly, supporting  and guaranteeing quality programs at the Libyan educational institutions through AROQA Services.
The meeting was digitally held in the presence of the Dr. Ali Al-Wafi, director General of the Training and Education Development Center, and Dr. Hussein Mrgin, president of the Libyan Association for Quality and Excellence in Education, in addition to a number of educational specialists and experts in Libya.
During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh conveyed his warm greetings to the Libyan Minister of Education, HE Dr. Musa Al-Maqrif, praising his outstanding efforts in developing education in Libya.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh reiterated his vision regarding education, which is consistent with the statement of  AROQA honorary chairman,  Arab League Secretary-General  HE Ahmed Aboul Gheit, who once said, ‘The choice States face today is either to innovate or perish’.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also stressed the importance of changing the education system to become more innovative, since it has always been based on memorization and indoctrination, underlining the need to shift from education to learning. He noted that ‘The knowledge-based society is the society that works through digitization; the precise reasons that prompted us at TAG-Global to establish the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation (TAGUCI) whose core mission is “graduating students by innovation, not by passing exams”.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also referred to the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), which works in partnership with the European Union to support scientific research programs through direct Internet connection that allows access to all scientific research centers in the world.
He also stressed the need to take advantage of the atmosphere of openness and the availability of information without any charges in the digital world to use it in developing knowledge from open sources.
For his part, Dr. Al-Saghir expressed his gratitude to and appreciation of  Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for his constant support to the education sector, noting that this knowledgeable meeting would be fruitful in strengthening efforts for disseminating quality culture and innovation in education.
Al-Saghir highlighted the efforts exerted by the Libyan Ministry of Education to shift to online teaching at all its educational institutions, pointing out that the Ministry has been one of the first agencies to move towards electronic transformation since 2006, stating that the Ministry is actively engaged in implementing and activating digital transformation at the educational institutions.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mrgin stressed that education at the primary and secondary educational institutions has no longer been the same as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, emphasizing that the educational system has changed in terms of structure, content, type, and technology, as the education needs to be reset again.
“We need the mindset of possibility; which means we need to start now, from the same point, yet, in a more distinctive manner,” he added.
