AMMAN ---- April 2016 ---- The Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA) released an updated version of the Academic Accreditation Standards for Schools, in line with international standards, in addition to updating both the standards guide and the self-assessment guide.

These amendments and updates are in linewith the mission, vision and objectives of the Organization, which operates according to the vision and directives ofits Chairman HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and focuses on effective contribution to improving the quality of education and promoting quality of services in the Arab world.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said, “We always seek to develop all our services in line with accelerating developments in various sectors,” adding "amending and raising the accreditation standards are the best means and methods for motivating concerned entities to improve and develop their services as well, especially in the field of education."
A new and optional standard was added relating to creativity and distinction, including several indicators focused on providing a creative and distinguished environment for students and teachers, and for encouraging business entrepreneurship, initiatives and inventions. If the school applying for accreditation is able to achieve this specific standard, it shall receive the academic accreditation with distinction.
The Organization prepared a form for self-assessment and checklists, including all standards and indicators, to guide schools in the process of preparing the self-assessment report to obtain academic accreditation.
This type of assistance prepares the academic and administrative staff at schools to implement the international standards, as well as local and international quality procedures in education, to achieve distinguished levels of educational services. In addition, it will guide educational institutions in Arab countries – for purposes of establishing quality assurance systems, providing consultation in qualifying for academic distinction and in capacity building in the field of quality assurance in education.
