The
ten internationally agreed goals for Education 2030
Education
for All Goals: 2000-2015
Over
the past fifteen years, significant progress has been made towards achieving
the development goals for all, but they have not been achieved by the 2015
deadline.
Sustainable
Development Goals: 2015-2030
In
September 2015, during its Conference on Sustainable Development, the Member
States of the United Nations officially adopted in New York the 2030 Agenda for
Sustainable Development. This plan includes 17 goals, including a new global
goal in the field of education (Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals),
which is 'Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong
learning opportunities for all', accompanied by seven goals and three means of
implementation. The setting of this target was the result of an extensive
consultative process conducted by Member States, but with broad participation
from civil society, teachers, unions, bilateral agencies, regional
organizations, international organizations, the private sector, and research
institutes and institutions.
The
fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDG 4 or Global Goal 4
(for short: Goal 4) concerns quality education and is among the 17 sustainable
development goals established by the United Nations in 2015.[1] The full title
of Goal 4 is: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote
lifelong learning opportunities for all.”[2] The fourth goal has seven goals
and three means of implementation, and each of the goals and means of
implementation are indicators that are supposed to be achieved by 2030.
